Excel-PPT Generator
The Excel-PPT Generator is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that automates the workflow between data entry in Excel and report generation in PowerPoint. It allows an AI assistant to bridge the gap between financial calculations and final presentations.
Features
- Write Inputs: Updates specific Excel cells (Quantity, Price, Country, etc.) directly from a chat interface.
- Read Outputs: Uses
xlwingsto open Excel and read calculated results (Subtotal, Tax, Total), ensuring all formulas are fully evaluated. - Generate PPT: Automatically populates a PowerPoint template by replacing placeholders (e.g.,
{{total}}) with actual data from the Excel output.
Setup
1. Prerequisites
- Windows OS: Required because
xlwingsinteracts with the local Excel desktop application. - Python 3.10+.
- Dependencies: Install via pip:
pip install mcp openpyxl python-pptx xlwings
2. Files Required
Ensure the following files are in your project directory:
server.py: The MCP server code.dummy_tables.xlsx: Your workbook with "Inputs" and "Outputs" sheets.blank.pptx: Your template containing placeholder tags.
3. Claude Desktop Configuration
Add the server to your claude_desktop_config.json file:
